Sustainable travel in the Archipelago
The Archipelago Sea is known for its unique natural beauty and draws many visitors, especially in the summer months. With its stunning and diverse landscape and rich biodiversity, the area is a popular destination. At the same time, it is also a fragile ecosystem affected by tourism. Sustainable travel means finding a balance between experiencing nature and protecting it for the future.

Smart choices for a sustainable holiday
- Avoid the crowds – travel outside of peak season, for example in May, June, August, or September.
- Take a Bike + Bus trip from the city to the archipelago – fun, relaxing, and climate-friendly!
- Swap the car for a bicycle and enjoy the Coastal Route at your own pace.
- Use an electric vehicle or public transport whenever possible.
- Respect the Everyman’s Right and stick to marked nature trails – help protect nature.
- Be considerate of locals – respect privacy, property boundaries, and local customs.

Support local – Eat, shop and discover
- Visit farm shops and small boutiques – and discover local ingredients and crafts along the way.
- Enjoy coffee and meals at cafés and restaurants using local produce.
- Choose meaningful souvenirs and buy authentic local handicrafts.
Many cafés and restaurants favour local and organic produce. In a farm shop, you know exactly where your food comes from – and who grew or made it. Choosing local food supports the local economy and is a more sustainable choice. The taste of the archipelago stays with you – during your visit and long after. Take home a meaningful memory: a handcrafted item created by local artisans, infused with the flavours, materials, and traditions of the islands.

Choose a sustainable destination!

Respect nature and local guidelines
Many travellers want to experience nature during their holidays, so it’s helpful to be familiar with what the Everyman’s Right includes. The archipelago also has several protected areas where access may be restricted to preserve the environment. By following shared rules, we can better care for our precious region.
