Autumn

The archipelago is an excellent place to spend your autumn holiday. Kimitoön offers the opportunity to hike along nature trails, cycle along the Coastal Route, admire the autumn foliage, and enjoy the delicacies of the harvest!

The hectic summer gives way, as the high season comes to an end. The time of harvest, which tickles the taste buds, begins.

The summer heat lingers for a long time in the sea and in the rocky cliffs. When you kayak/canoe among the islands and skerries, navigate your boat with wind-filled sails or walk along the nature trails in the archipelago forests, it really feels like being in the middle of southern Finland’s last real wilderness. The seawater clears and opens its window to the fascinating world below the surface. The length of the night and the day is equally balanced so you can enjoy sunrise and sunset without having to give up a night’s sleep.

From the beginning to the middle of October, the autumn glow of the archipelago is at its most brilliant; the countless deciduous trees of the villages, manor houses and churches radiate with the most intensive colors. The strong autumn winds eventually strip all the trees and whip up white horses on the waves of the sea. If you have never experienced a roaring autumn storm by the edge of the sea or listened to the thunder in the safety and warmth of a log cabin, you have another unforgettable experience to look forward to.
